Gathering under the canopy for our first Holistic Reset Day.

What a day. The forest turned on its very best weather for our One-Day Retreat — clear blue skies, warm sun filtering through the ancient canopy, and a gentle stillness in the air that set the tone for everything that followed. A warm, welcoming group came together deep in Epping Forest at Chingford, and by the end of the afternoon it felt like we'd all known each other far longer than a single day.

Outdoor Yoga in the Sun

We opened the day grounded on the earth beneath the trees. With the sun on our backs, the gentle, beginner-friendly yoga session moved through soft stretches, breathwork, and somatic awareness. There's something the studio simply can't offer — birdsong, dappled light, and the smell of the woodland — and it let everyone arrive fully, release the tension they'd carried in, and settle into the present moment.

A Reflective Poetry Workshop

Still buzzing with that heightened, senses-open feeling, we turned inward for the reflective poetry workshop. Guided by prompts drawn from the surroundings — the whispering leaves, the quiet, the shifting light — everyone explored their own voice without judgement. The forest became a mirror, and the words that came back were honest, tender, and often surprising. Reading a few of them aloud to one another was a real highlight.

A Shared Group Lunch

Then came a favourite part of any gathering: breaking bread together. We paused for a relaxed group lunch, sharing food, conversation, and easy laughter in the sunshine. It was in these unhurried moments — no agenda, just connection — that the day's community truly took shape.

Closing with Visual Art

To round things off, we translated the day's feelings into colour and texture. Through intuitive painting, sketching, and natural collage, everyone consolidated their reflections into a piece to take home — a small, personal anchor for the calm we'd found. As we shared our work in the closing circle, it was clear the day had given each of us something a little different, and exactly what we needed.
